The magic of Wikipedia!

The Wise Guys............we made Wikipedia:
This was the first major band i was in, 98-06 with multiple breakups and dysfunction. It was all worth it!!
* how did we do this jake, bing and tink!?

The Wise Guys were a punk rock band formed in Everett, WA, in 1998. While never gaining any sort of major success, they were instrumental in creating and sustaining the local punk rock scene of Snohomish County throughout much of their tenure. Their "Final" breakup occurred in November of 2006, a decision came to a half hour before their last show at the High Dive in Seattle, WA.

Formation, Early Years
Michael Maddux (a.k.a. WiseguyTink) had recently left Push Din, a local experimental rock band. On the way home from a show at RCKNDY featuring GBH and Against All Authority, Michael and Jake Nickerson decided they should form a punk rock band in the mold of AAA and the Ramones. Michael and Jake recruited Josh Stohl and Dan from The Preps, and the Wise Guys were born.

Push Din had re-named themselves Daphne Monstertruck, and were going to have a debut show in Granite Falls, WA, and Michael insisted they allow the Wise Guys to play as well. While TWG had yet to rehearse or even write songs, they were booked for their first show three weeks away.
They would play this show as well as StickStock 2008 that summer, and Shitfest 2008 that fall, securing their place as the local politically charged band. They began to earn a reputation of encouraging rowdiness at their shows, and there were regular injuries amongst fans. All of these shows were produced by TB Productions, which was headed by Bing Martinez (Daphne Monstertruck), Michael Maddux and Bryan Nythsayer.

Due to a local municipal code in Everett, WA, all ages punk rock shows had to be produced outside of the city limits. TB Productions would go on to produce one to three shows per month at various grange halls, The Wise Guys being regular performers. Other notable acts that started showing up in the scene at this time were the Sadie Hawkins Rejects, the Tripods and Third.

Reel Big Fish
2000 brought The Wise Guys their first bit of recording time, as well as entrance into Seattle University's annual Quadstock, opening for Reel Big Fish. While the first record (the School Sucks E.P.) never got to mastering, this experience, along with the simmering tensions within the band, would ultimately lead to the departure of Dan, who was replaced by Bing Martinez. There was also ongoing fighting within TB Productions, and after StickStock 2000, Bryan left the operation. The last show attributed to TB was ShitFest 2000, which again featured the Wise Guys with Third and the Sadie Hawkins Rejects.

The First Breakup
With Bing now playing bass, the Wise Guys began to tighten up, however they were still known more for their rowdy performances than for their talent. By now, Sadie Hawkins Rejects had far surpassed TWG in fan-base, and the Wise Guys had become an opening act. Even though die hard fans of the band were hard to find, their shows still elicited raucus crowds, nudity, circle pits, dance contests and broken instruments.
They again attempted a recording, this time Aida Sakkal from the Tripods producing.
After much infighting over the direction of the band, and Michael's inability to maintain positive relationships with other bands and fellow showmates (most notably his very public fight with Neil from Sadie Hawkins Rejects), the Wise Guys disbanded before being able to finish "The Shit E.P."

Happy Birthday Ben!
After over a year of estrangement, Bing and Michael began talking to each other again in late 2003. In late 2004, at the request of Ben (the drummer from the Sadie Hawkins Rejects, now also a member of People We Hate, which featured Bing and Jake from TWG), The Wise Guys re-formed and performed to a packed house at Jimi Z, in the Green Room, in Everett, WA. The animosity between Michael and the rest of the band, however, had not subsided enough for this to become a full-on reunion, and Michael refused to re-start the band.

Happy Birthday Alycen!
In early 2006, Michael again received the call to do another reunion show, this time for long time fan Alycen's 21st birthday, which was to happen in The Grotto at the Rendevous in Seattle, WA. This was the first show that Michael would ever drink profusely before, and he arrived wearing a Wise Guys t-shirt, barely able to walk, and stumbled through the set.
He was noted to have complained about the lack of involvement from the audience, and the sheer "boredom" he felt performing to people just standing around.
While this would not be an official reunion, TWG began discussing the possibility of reuniting for good.

The Third Reunion Show
Over the summer of 2006, Michael created a MySpace page for the Wise Guys, and they started seriously considering getting back together. After being invited to play a battle of the bands for Gorilla Productions that was geared towards new bands who had yet to gain any exposure, the Wise Guys re-formed to play their third reunion show.
While the majority of the acts were considered poor in quality at best, the Wise Guys lost out on a second vote to the Tuxedos. This show again contained a raucus performance, and was recorded for potential use on future Wise Guys compilation albums. Kenny, the drummer from Fall From Grace, would also become a surprise (even to the band) guest on guitar for a cover of the Ramones classic, "Blitzkrieg Bop".

The Wise Guys would go on to perform two more shows, on November 4, 2006 with ManPlus and Those Damn Twins at the Beacon Pub and on November 20, 2006 with ManPlus and Stephen Minor at the High Dive. It was during this show that they proclaimed an end to The Wise Guys and a birth to The Weisenhymers, although the Weisenhymers never materialized.
Other Projects

Following the demise of The Wise Guys, Michael attempted to form new bands with other local musicians, but ultimately ended up leaving the scene almost entirely to focus on raising his daughter and political causes he was passionate about.
Jake and Bing went on to form People We Hate with Ben from Sadie Hawkins Rejects on the drums. Originally said to be named after Michael, they have been the most successful act to directly spring from the Wise Guys.
Josh has gone on to perform in various bands as well as hosting open mic nights and performing as a DJ and beat-boxer.
