12-yr Anniversry of the BOA shootout
In 1997, the film HEAT seemed to become an actual event envisioned by 2 gun-wielding drug-induced thieves who attempted to seize north hollywood's Bank of America and flee under what soon became a flanking of 200 local police and swat.
The 44 minuted shootout was even caught on news camera by lunatic reporters on foot and in helicopters. In all, Larry Eugene Phillips Jr. and Emil Matasareanu fired over 1,000 rounds while cloaked in enough body armor and high on enough opiates to withstand multiple gunshots fired upon them.
Scale map of the area around Bank of America ($), final locations of Phillips (P) and Matasareanu (M).
