Do you listen to web radio, streamline it, are you in a band who would appreciate free global exposure? This act concerns you!! I really hope you all read this and click on the link below to sign the petition to save WEB Radio!
"After intense lobbying, the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) and record industry is about to mandate exponential increases — by as much as 1,200 percent — in royalties paid every time webcasters stream a song online. If these unfair rules are allowed to go into effect on July 15, many public, independent and smaller Internet radio stations will have to shut down. At stake is the diversity of musical choice that the Internet has come to represent for more than 50 million listeners."
This means no more internet/web radio, streamline radio, for good!
No more web radio means:
No more promotion for countless musicians
No more fresh artists to discover
No more commercial-free web radio
No more streamlining indy stations, because they certainly can't afford to pay royalties
"Their (the CRB) rules would force webcasters to make a back payment for all music played since 2006"....that probably means YOU!!
"When (and if) the rule takes effect, the vast majority of webcasters could immediately go out of business. NPR, Pacifica and community radio stations would be crippled and forced to take down much of their online content."
Do you realize how serious this is? I love streamlining radio via the web, i listen to genres galore and peep out new acts! I don't want to lose that privilege!!
If you don't help do something about this, then it's all downhill from here. Enjoy listening to bland, commercialized, pathetic Mainstream Radio! Congress can reverse this if you sign this petition along with thousands of others! SIGN IT:
